Reflections

29/1/15-4/2/15
For the first week of this project we were given an open theme where we could take a photograph of anything we wanted. I chose to not give myself a theme and experiment with different images and what I was going to photograph. When looking at my images I found that I took a lot of photos when I was on the train or at train stations. This is because I commute to university and a lot of my time is spent on trains. The image I like the most this week is the image of the wheel being washed. I like the detail in this image and that it is something that I do often and it fits well in my everyday theme.

5/2/15-11/2/15
The second week of this project we were given the theme of Commute. I found this theme quite easy as I spend a lot of time commuting so it was easy to take the photos. What I did find when doing this project is that the images were very similar to the week before because within my images for last week a lot of them were to do with commuting. The image I like the most for this week is the image of the station when it's dark and the light from the underground is coming up through the floor and shining up the wall creating interesting shadows.

12/2/15-18/2/15
The theme for the third week of this project was Home. For this week I took photos of different object which were either taken at home or which reminded me of my home.  A lot of the images which were taken at home were at night. This was because of being at university or working during the day. These images are based of items which mean a lot to me or which I use everyday. The image I liked the most this week is the image of my bed with the teddies. I really like this image as it is something which means a lot to me because these were all given to me by people who are very special to me and it is a big part of my everyday life as when I look at them I think of the people in my life who mean a lot to me.

19/2/15-25/2/15
For week four there was an open theme. I didn't choose to have an individual theme for this. I chose to keep is open because I was going ton use this to reflect on the images which I took I the first week and see how I have progressed and how what I take my images of has progressed. I found that I preferred that images that I took this week as the images have progressed to being rather than just at the train station or on trains. The image I liked the most this week is this image of my dog as this is something which is very much to do with my everyday.

26/2/15-4/3/15
For week five we were given the theme of The Street. To respond to this theme I chose to take pictures of different things I saw on the street. When reflecting on my work this week I found that I was mainly taking photos of signs or graffiti. These images were mainly taken when I was walking to the station of to my lessons in university. My favourite image I took this week is the image of the road leading to the media factory. What I like about this image is the leading lines and the detail of the pavement.

5/2/15-11/2/15
Week six we were given Ben Highmore – Doing Time, Work Life which we had to read and respond to. One of the things that were mentioned in this reading was routine and how we live our lived by an everyday routine. For this theme I chose to focus on the theme of routine. All of these images were staged. When taking these images I chose to include my watch which is showing the time that the image was taken. The image I like the most is the image of the watch on the toothbrush holder. What I liked about that image is the colours which draw your attention to the image.

12/2/15-18/2/15
The theme for week seven was Dusk till Dawn within this theme I chose to focus on shadows. I thought that this related well to the theme as it is something which happens everyday and it is everywhere you go. My original idea for this theme was to photograph sunrises and sunsets however when realistically thinking about this it wasn't a very practical idea because there are days where I miss the chance to photograph this because of being in a lecture, at work or commuting so this wouldn't be a very good theme for everyday. My favourite image that I took this week was the image of the small triangle of light on the wall. What I like about this image is that it's very simple yet interesting. I feel that this is quite an abstract image and draws your attention because it is not the usual photograph of a shadow.

19/3/15-25/3/15
For the final week of this project the theme was Comsumerism. When we were given is theme I didn't fully understand what it meant. After doing research I came up with an idea of photographing labels, such as nutrition labels, warning label and information labels. I chose to do a range of subjects including food, clothing and different items which you may use everyday. I found this a hard theme to respond to because firstly I didn't understand what consumerism meant and then it was hard to think of a sub theme for this. I feel that I responded as well as I could to this theme and came out with some good images. The image which I like the most from this weeks theme is the image of the tango can, what i like about this image is the use of shallow depth of field and the contrast and colours of the image which draw your attention.

Overall I feel that this project went well, some of the themes I didn't fully understand so I found them quite hard to respond to however I feel that I have responded to this project to the best of my ability and I am happy with my outcomes.
